BREAKING: Wisconsin brewery owner who promised “free beer” when Trump dies is now running for governor — and MAGA is absolutely melting down.
Wisconsin politics just got a whole lot weirder.
Kirk Bangstad, the outspoken owner of Minocqua Brewing Company, announced that he’s launching a run for governor — after spending months enraging conservatives with Facebook posts promising free beer “the day Donald Trump dies” and buy-one-get-one drinks “when Rudy Giuliani kicks the bucket.”
Yes, really.
Bangstad is now scrambling to collect 2,000 signatures in just 25 days to get on Wisconsin’s ballot, hosting brewery parties over the next two weekends while pitching himself as the Democrat willing to say what others won’t.
“The current Dems in this race are campaigning according to polling, not according to their guts,” Bangstad wrote, warning that Trump could attempt to “steal our election” through an “October surprise.”
That message has made him a folk hero to some anti-Trump voters — and a villain to MAGA world.
The controversy exploded after Bangstad’s brewery repeatedly posted jokes about celebrating Trump’s death with free beer and Giuliani’s death with drink specials referencing the infamous Four Seasons Landscaping fiasco. One supporter joked, “C’mon Rudy, it’s not just about you!!!!” Another wrote, “Yasssss… RUDY go to the red flames.”
Others were horrified. One commenter called the brewery “demonic.” Another reportedly tagged the FBI.
Things escalated even further after the White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting scare involving Trump, when the brewery posted: “Well, we almost got #freebeerday.”
Now the brewery owner who built a national reputation trolling Trump supporters wants to become governor of Wisconsin.
And somewhere in America, Fox News producers are probably hyperventilating into paper bags.
