I suppose the example of art shows up the failings of the over-simplification (or falsification, if you like) of “Occam’s Razor” into “the simplest explanation is the best”. But it fits in fine with the gloss "entities must not be multiplied beyond necessity". You need 43 things to explain something properly? You stick with 43, and don’t try like a dunce to simplify that set further. You’re working with complex matters like artworks? You’re going to have a lot of entities involved

Art shows why Occam’s Razor may be a false ideal, that things expressed simply are not holding the entirety of the more complex item which is supposedly represented; in addition, that increasing complexity can also further refine the idea.
