I remember in the 80s attending a church with my fiancée where we saw a video (or even a series, possibly by Zig Ziglar?) on the “love & respect” thesis. Women need love, men need respect. Seemed to make sense to us at the time, but real-world experiences in marriage and life eroded this picture, and we grew increasingly egalitarian. Not surprised, but very interested, to read this debunking.
