Someone slipped me an advance copy of the neuroscientist Joshua W. Brown’s book on the relationship between spirituality and health.

There’s been gold on every page so far, but here’s one of my favorite bits:

In studies where people were tasked with difficult, confusing challenges, brain scans showed that non-religious participants felt a lot of self-frustration, anxiety, and anger when they messed up.

Conversely, whenever religious participants made a similar mistake, they were immediately more likely to brush off their mistakes without getting frustrated with themselves or the situation.

I love it; neuroscientific evidence of internalizing God’s grace.
