True enough, but he has a big tent. First, there are the establishment GOP-types who only care about low taxes and de-regulation. Then there are the outwardly vulgar anti-establishment types who wear their racist nationalism and macho misogyny with pride. I get those two. But how are self-avowed Christians managing to embrace this obvious corruption?

The only explanation that makes any sense to me is smoldering racism (along with fear of non hetero-normative behavior) together with decades of propaganda vilifying Democrats and the prevailing establishment culture as anti-“American.” The Democratic party has lost its ability to “speak to and for the heartland.”. But DT is losing that ability as well.
