At the end of its Royal Air Force service as 44AA91, the '53 80" I drive was auctioned off at Ruddington Depot in Nottingham on 4 Oct 1966. I have been looking for the auction catalog(ue) for years, so was very pleased that a Land Rover Series One Club (LRSOC) member had one and kindly sent me a scan. The truck was Lot 203, "Land Rover G.P. Vehicle, 4x4".

It was subsequently civilian-licensed 1 Aug 1967-31 Jul 1968 as YJH789F in Hertfordshire, which was its number plate until Mar 2012 when it received age-appropriate plate 409YUE (which I left on the truck under the German HG-UE53H plates on velcro discs).

As with genealogy, it's always nice to have as much provenance-establishing documentation as possible for classic vehicles, and I'm pleased to now have this on file. The classic Land Rover community never ceases to amaze and delight :-)
