The cool thing about us writers is we never stop creating…even when we’re not actively writing.
If I’m staring off into space, I’m actually envisioning the next scene in my novel.
If I hear a bird singing a beautiful song, I’m including it in the background of the next outdoor scene.
If I feel the wind whip through my hair just right, I’m going to capture that moment and describe it in vivid detail for my female protagonist with long hair.
If I meet a charming barista at my local coffee shop, they’re in danger of becoming the next side character that steals peoples’ hearts.
Everything our brains are doing is the groundwork for writing incredible, captivating, relatable, and memorable novels.
Give yourself more credit, friends. Your brain is never actually off—it’s just in information-gathering mode, and that’s equally as valuable as writing.
