There are some utterly wrong and sometimes outright mendacious claims floating around about Substack.

Criticism is good and necessary. Substack is not perfect and needs to keep evolving and to prove itself over time. But a lot of what I see goes far beyond reasonable criticism.

We can never take your trust for granted. When you own your mailing list, and all your content—and when Substack can only make money when you make money—that’s the ultimate guarantee that we will act in your interests.

These principles hold true, by the way, even if you vehemently disagree with some of our positions or decisions.

Unless you've been living under a rock, you're probably aware there's a relatively-small-but-loud group of people online who really don't like Substack and are constantly urging writers to pick up and leave for other platforms.
