In the spirit of this week’s Macabre Monday, I’ve been trying to get to the bottom of what terrifies me most, and hopefully find a way to translate that into my writing.

Unfortunately, the horror that came in at number one for me were the night terrors I used to have as a kid. These were largely abstract terror— a sense of eternity, but no visual physical horrors to lock into.

I’m wondering if anyone else had either come up with a successful means to express this phenomenon or knows of examples in literature or film that they could share.

Any input would be much appreciated.
