CHRC just dropped a 5-year high in complaints — and the backlog is growing
Look, the Canadian Human Rights Commission’s 2025 report is out and the numbers are blunt: they got over 4,600 new inquiries/potential complaints and accepted 960 formal ones under the CHRA — both five-year highs.
Disability made up 58% (half of those mental health), race/colour/national origin 45%.
Inventory of accepted complaints jumped from 1,360 to 2,190.
They’re calling it a “One Commission” integration in 2026 to handle the intersecting mess.
In a year of record hate, inequality and cost-of-living pain, Canadians are actually using the system.
Is it keeping up?
