Despite the fact that my work does generally fall under the category of “spirituality,” “magick”, “occult”, etc, I am actually very sceptical, and intolerant of woo. In fact, for as long as I can remember I have devoted much of my time to refining my critical, analytical, and objective thinking skills.
My position has always been that if a belief requires that you abandon science and reason , it’s probably false. Taking this line of thinking a step further; the commonly held opinion that logic and reason are somehow incongruent with spiritual knowledge is not only patently false, but also, destructive and dangerous.
On the other hand, I always knew that science’s habit of disregarding anything it couldnt yet explain was a fatal flaw. Add to that the institution’s numerous a priori assumptions, some of which are foundational, and you can deduce that any ontological model generated by it will be incomplete… at best.
The actual point of this note, tho…
I don’t return follows for follows, unless I would follow the person anyway. Here on Substack, even when I see terms that I consider red flags in people’s bio’s, such as “light worker” or other indications of New Ageyness, they almost always turn out to be “followable.” Even the more “out there” accounts are almost always creators that present as being grounded in reason, science literate, and open minded….but not so open minded that wind is whistling through their ears. It’s nice to be pleasantly surprised constantly, instead of disappointed
This is not the case on other platforms.
Every day, I appreciate substack more and more.
Kudos to this community.
