Hey folks
Here’s this week’s writing prompt:
Do a Personal Retro
People are reservoirs of insight and surprise. Talk to anybody—literally anybody—and you quickly find heaps of things they could use as creative kindling.
The challenge is uncovering our own kindling for ourselves.
To help with this, the following questions will have you reflecting and writing lists; lists that’ll give you an endless source of things to write about. Pull out a pen and jot down all of the:
- skills you’ve acquired
- tools you’ve used
- lessons you’ve learned
- struggles you’ve faced
- successes you’ve had
- things you love
- things you hate
- transitions you’ve made
- paradigm shifts you’ve had
- hobbies you’ve tried
- stories you’ve lived through
- topics you’ve learned
- and people you’ve met
Keep it close and keep adding to it. This will be your Personal Retrospective. Ideas that you, and you alone, are uniquely positioned to share.
Let me know how this goes.
I’m doing this because I have a growing list of prompts and an impulse to help you with your creative practice.
