Totally agree. Seems no sector of America is untouched by our assumption that and adoration toward “bigger is better”. Calling it “AI”, or should I say being *allowed* to call it AI, has also been a driving factor in the bubble. I have wondered if “LLMs” would have had the same rapid uptake. Doubtful. It has very much felt like a fad from the beginning. I have been shocked by the FOMO though, particularly by businesses. You can hardly turn around without bumping into it. Like protein. It’s been added to everything whether it makes any sense or not. None of us asked for protein in our water or “AI” in a fridge. Some of what it has done is cost a bunch of money, suck up resources, cause unnecessary stress for employees and customers, slowed down websites, made up endless incorrect answers and slop, and stressed communities. I, for one, am not at all surprised that “AI” is not what these tech giants tried to make it out to be. Unfortunately, we’re all living through this stupidity.
