Before I became an executive search consultant, I thought hiring worked like this: company posts a role, candidates apply, best person wins.

Then I saw the inside.

A company calls us with a confidential brief. We map the market in LinkedIn Recruiter. We identify the right 10-15 people. We call them directly. Most of them were not looking for a job.

The best candidates never applied. They were found.

This changed how I think about my own career. And it should change how you think about yours.
