Life does not exist without opposing sides. We live in a reality composed of duality. We understand over time that sadness makes our times of happiness and joy that much more real and brilliant. To experience beauty in an ugly world or love after experiencing hate is to be transformed by it. And to know death is to be more grateful for the life that we have. It is everywhere we look, in all that we feel, in how we move through the day, and especially in the simple art of breathing – dying on the outbreath, and then a gift to receive the inbreath and live again. Yet we take that for granted. We think it is a given. It is just a part of our human body but there is a first breath, and there is a last breath, and in between there are a million little deaths and rebirths along the way. Cherish those.
