A study published March 4, 2026, suggests it may matter more than we think. Over 12 years, researchers at Yale followed more than 11,000 adults age 65 and older and found that 45% improved in either cognition or walking speed. In other words, later life was not only marked by decline. For many people, it also included measurable improvement.
This is part of what I think about with the Pink Zones: not just longevity, but the social and emotional ecosystems that help women thrive throughout life.
