I find it extremely endearing when my husband talks to the cat, calling her ‘madam’ and remonstrating with her about her manners and morals. I have no intention of telling him this because then he might become self-conscious and stop doing it. Instead, I have just bestowed a kiss on him and told him how much I love him. He is faintly mystified but pleased by this spontaneous display of affection.
