Maeve Binchy has had a huge influence on my reading and therefore my writing life. I picked up Light a Penny Candle from a holiday bookshelf when I was fifteen and was instantly hooked on her writing.

This video is my collection of Binchy novels and short stories. I’m struggling to think of a favourite, though I confess I adore Tara Road, Quentins and Scarlet Feather when she lets the main characters from each book wander into the others.
