The app for independent voices

Give yourself a gift this holiday season: Create your personal “Highlight Reel”.

It takes 15 minutes to set up, but it pays a lifetime of dividends.

Here’s a simple process to capture your greatest wins and nice things people have said to you:

  1. Create a file in your favorite notes app. You can call it “Highlight Reel”, or “Wins and Compliments”, or something else.

  2. Write down your greatest wins. What achievements are you most proud of? What took you a lot of effort and sacrifice to accomplish? List them out.

  3. Screenshot any compliments or nice messages you’ve received. Have you gotten any kind text messages recently? Did you receive a heartfelt email from a friend or loved one? Did a client rave about your work? If it made you smile, take a screenshot of the message and drop it in the file.

  4. Recall past conversations. Some of the best compliments we’ve received happened in conversations years ago. Maybe it was words of encouragement from a parent or teacher, or a supportive pep talk from a friend back in college. If you can remember these anecdotes, write them down. They’re just as valuable!

  5. Bookmark for easy retrieval. The key is to pull up this file any time you’re feeling down or need a quick confidence boost. Put it somewhere where you can find it in less than ten seconds.

Going forward, anytime you achieve a “win” or you receive another nice message, add it to your Highlight Reel.

Sometimes, in our lowest moments, it’s easy to forget that we’ve done great things, or that people care about us.

Let this be a counterbalance to your negative self-talk! You’re doing just fine.
