But to our point, long-suffering? Me? How much time? How long? This brings back that truth that what seems like impossible intolerable length of time is a bit common among writers throughout the Bible. Moses uses the phrase to address Pharaoh's hardened heart (Exodus 10:3). But more to the point people (us, me) asking “how long” of God (Psalm 6:3; 13:1; 35:7; 74:9; 75:9; 80:4; 82:2; 89:46; 94:3). Many of these “how longs” asked of the Lord, sometimes as multiple times within the same Psalm, address extremely painful and critical circumstances of life. And Lord, will you not hear my crying, my prayer, are you ignoring me Lord? The enemy is getting away with literal murder. They are mocking your Name. Not only how long must I endure this onslaught, must You, Lord, allow them to speak evil of you?
