I’ve spent the past week in Norway, where EVs seem to be the rule. It didn’t take long to realize that Chinese EV makers seem to have a huge presence here.
Even though I’m supposed to be on vacation, I immediately thought: What would Bill Bishop think?
In Alesund there was a street display of NIO cars, which look like they could give TSLA a run for their money. (I haven’t spent a moment on NIO other than to see their stock has been clobbered, so there’s that. The sales rep said the company either does or is building a facility in the U.S.)
Then in Honningsvåg, on our way to the North Cape, we rode in a VERY new electric bus made by Yutong Bus Co… so new with only 1,000 km on i, in fact, that it still had that new bus smell. The driver told me he loved the bus and volunteered that when it comes to electric buses, in his view the Chinese have the best product.
So, Bill, with full acknowledgment that my observations are totally “man in the street” random… what should we make of this?
