These were such good little cars, especially in hatchback format and with all wheel drive. I think the Subaru Impreza was the only other AWD sedan/hatchback then, and up until recently, that you could get that was both fairly compact and had a curb weight under 3,000 lbs. But for my money the SX4s looked better and probably drove better. You still see the very similar Fiat Sedici plying the roads if you travel to Europe. I think that the Sedici had different engines available.
