Fellow professors, have you noticed this change? Before Covid, when I walked into class, the lights would be on and the students would be chatting about the game, the course, flirting, gossiping, whatever. Now when I walk in, the room is pitch black and the students are sitting silently in the dark looking at their phones. This happens about 98% of the time. Am I alone?
