Little Things That Made My Day (May 23)

I managed to get some meal prep done today - a very satisfying experience when it does happen. I need to shout out two tools that made it such a great experience - Made In’s 6 inch chef knife (the perfect size and weight and cuts through everything like butter) and Material Kitchen’s ReBoard (just a fantastic, durable chopping board that’s the perfect size).

Scandoval drew me into Vanderpump Rules, and it’s completely hijacked my brain (which I’m not mad about). I was thinking about what about this show drew me in, and I think it has to do with the following elements:

  • Scandoval is the first time an angry woman actually gets to be angry and defended in it, and a bad man has to face the consequences from his decades of bad choices.

  • Outspoken women are vindicated - justice for Señorita Bubba and Lala.

  • The danger in the stereotype of the traditionally feminine woman (meek, submissive) was revealed in this whole mess. I hope it’s a shift in ditching the stereotypes in how women are portrayed on TV (something Adam Divello of Selling Sunset/The Hills fame would be smart to learn)

I’ve listened to nearly every podcast breaking down Scandoval, and I found Nick Viall’s interview with Charli to be the most insightful and thoughtful. Highly recommend listening it before tomorrow’s reunion.

Sharing my workouts have become an accountability action for me, but I also truly enjoyed today’s stack: 20 minutes of arms & shoulders with Selena, 5 minutes of core with Emma, and 20 minutes of shadowboxing with Kendall (emo girl AND Dreams & Nightmares in a playlist? Yes please).

is one of my favorite people on the Internet (and she has an excellent Substack - go sign up!). We’ve been online friends for some time, but finally met today and it was like we’ve known each other forever. Something I’m taking away from this conversation is asking how I can help the other person and mentioning that the offer stands in the future - what a lovely way to lift each other up.
