What frustrated me so much about this piece is the fact that the obstacles are real and not political and not about “should.” Sure everything he said. But the how isn’t going to be about wishing. So much needs to be dismantled. The burdens on teachers — the learning outcomes, the requirement to use Canvas (ha!), the increased teaching loads — it is as if Deresiewicz sees none of it.
