One of the things I love most about living in the countryside is the way it brings us closer to a more historical way of life.

Last year I made batches and batches of blackberry jam foraged from the garden. We’ve been eating salad from the veg patch for weeks, and today I started the process of making elderflower cordial (something I know

would approve of!). I can’t help but think that this is the way many of our ancestors would have lived, working the ground to make what they eat (although the bulk of my food obv still comes from the supermarket…). It’s glorious.
