2 Corinthians 5:21 God made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.

In this verse, we learn how reconciliation with God is possible. First, God is the initiator. He is the one reaching out to save sinners. This was His plan from the beginning.

His plan was for His Son, Jesus, who knew no sin, to be made sin on our behalf. This means that Jesus paid the penalty for sin as our substitute.

Because Jesus paid that penalty, we can be declared righteous before God. Our standing before God is based on Christ’s righteousness, not our own performance.

This becomes true for us when we place our faith in what Christ has done. Meditate on this truth and thank Him for what He has done for you. ~ Jeff M Newman
