there's a japanese concept called MA , the meaningful pause between notes in music. it's not silence. it's not absence. it's the space that gives the sound its shape.
i've been thinking about how the opposite of this is how we build our identities now. no pauses. no gaps. every moment filled with input, content, opinion, stimulus. and then we wonder why the self feels shapeless , like a song with no rests.
maybe the most important parts of who you are live in the spaces you keep trying to fill.
