Both Airbnb and Kia faced harsh criticism when they changed logos. Kia still does. It didn’t hinder their success a tiny bit though. As much as I love designing logos, I don’t think they have any substantial impact on the long term success of a company. Ideally a logo change is the cherry on top of more foundational change. Not change just for change’s sake.
