Andrea C. Love, PhD on Instagram: “The EWG (Environmental Working Group) is an activist organization that has a LONG history of anti-science rhetoric, including claims that vaccines were linked to autism. (Did you know that?) Their annual “Dirty Dozen” list is a scam they use to make MILLIONS of dollars scaring people about safe & nutritious produce. They claim these are contaminated’ conventional produce items, but in reality, none of the items exceed regulated trace level thresholds. Their Dirty Dozen list exaggerates toxicological risks that contradict robust data. They use poor methodology to conduct “studies,” cherry-pick data to support a narrative, & oppose legitimate scientific expert agencies. They conflate the concept of “detection” with relevance to scare people, while omitting all the organic pesticides that are used from their “analysis”. This is the same tactic they use for all their product ratings: sunscreen, cosmetics, and other consumer products. The EWG spreads chemophobia and scares people away from perfectly safe foods and consumer products. Why? MONEY. They bring in millions every year from corporate donors: the very companies that sell the products they are trying to drive people toward. They are NOT a science-based organization. If people use them as a reference, that information cannot be trusted. Do yourself a favor and stop listening to the EWG on any topics. Media outlets, you hear me?
