Since I came back from paternity leave early this year I’ve been obsessed with two things: 1) the shape of AI R&D and the trends thereof, and 2) how AI might change the economy and allow for different forms of society. This essay deals with 1) importai.substack.com/p… , and I am currently doing a lot of thinking and writing about something that I hope will deal with 1) and 2) and which I will discuss at a speech I’m giving in Oxford, UK, on May 20th. Import AI is how I am able to be in conversation with a large, brilliant group of people about the changes happening in the world (and increasingly, changes which I am playing some agentic role in causing or steering).
