I think we can agree that post scarcity and freedom to the limit of harm is the goal. The Culture by Ian Banks is a good target but I think we also need to be aware of the limits of our own hardware. As per David Pearce, there’s no escaping the hedonic treadmill with social reform or material arrangement.
Also, we must shed/alter our current meat suit if we intend to survive long term. Space is just too cold, too big, and too radioactive for carbon based apes that can’t even regrow nerves and limbs. It’s like trying to maintain a snow flake in the middle of a solar probe. It can be done, but it’s also absurd to try.
