Can I just make something really clear: people who are neurodiverse are neither a problem nor the problem.

You haven’t got a disorder, and you’re not a nuisance - you just find it hard to fit into this current society type that wasn’t created to nurture and utilise your differences.

You are not the problem; the systems humans created to control other humans are.

Take this as an example:

In this article, ADHD isn't a modern malfunction; it’s a trait that was preserved for millennia, suggesting a possible evolutionary advantage at some point in human history, specifically in hunter-gatherer societies.

People with ADHD tend to show more exploratory behaviours, are more active, have a wider array of attention than non-ADHD people, and also have a delayed sleep cycle. In modern life, all of that causes friction. But flip the context:

  • The restlessness and urge to explore meant better scouting for food and safe shelter.

  • The wider, scattered attention that makes it hard to focus in meetings? It also means spotting with the side of the eye the movement of a predator or enemy, giving precious seconds to react.

  • The delayed sleep cycle, rather than being a liability, meant some individuals in the tribe naturally stayed awake late to protect the community from danger while everyone else slept.

Neurodiverse people also tend to be highly imaginative and creative, bringing expansiveness and vision.

So, BE YOURSELF! The world needs diversity and sparkle, and people who question and challenge the current paradigm!
