We recite Surah Al-Kahf every Friday, and within it lies a verse that humbles us completely before the greatness of Allah.

“Say, ‘If the sea were ink for the words of my Lord, the sea would be exhausted before the words of my Lord were finished, even if We brought the like of it as a supplement.’” Surah Al-Kahf (18:109)

Here are a few thoughtful points to reflect on:

  • With all that’s going on in the world, His knowledge encompasses every detail… past, present, and future, reminding us that nothing escapes His wisdom.

  • When our own understanding feels limited and our questions seem unanswered, this verse reminds us that His knowledge is infinite, while ours is but a drop in the ocean.

  • The oceans themselves, vast and seemingly endless, would run dry before capturing His words. So how small are our worries compared to His boundless wisdom and mercy?

In times of confusion or hardship, this verse invites us to place our trust in Him, knowing that His decrees are written with knowledge far greater than we can imagine.
