A common thread here is that folks have no agency about their own health. But our core Judeo-Christian (and Greek) tradition is that we do. We choose what to eat, perhaps for the first time in human history. Most of us will choose poorly. For years I have limited my egg consumption, probably to my loss. Yet I am appalled at commercials glorifying gluttony. I am as worried about my wife's reluctance to embrace the omnivorous existence that is required to sustain the ravenous demands of the human brain.

But...we must respect our limits. Any effective drug(including vaccines) will have side effects. What the nature of these side effects is can only be determined by rigorous analysis based on long established procedures. Neither The Free Press nor political advocates of one sort or another can do more than provide a forum.

And only a system as complex as our political structure can take effective action.

It might be a form of click bait to feed into our inherent, if hopeless, quest for immortality, but perhaps the responsibility of a free press is to present a wide spectrum of beliefs.
