My husband loves it when some of my friends stay over with their husbands, mostly because it makes him look like Husband of the Year. This past weekend, my friend Angela and her husband, Mark, visited with their two young children. The entire visit consisted of Angela complaining that Mark didn’t help pack or cook, while Mark actively proved her point by sitting on our sofa scrolling through his phone.

My husband loaded the dishwasher once and practically took a bow. The bar is officially on the floor. We all need a Mark in our friend group—someone who makes everyone else look good, just as long as we aren’t married to him.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
