Make money doing the work you believe in

This selling books thing is a fun house and I’m bamboozled by a wall of mirrors.

No one knows what they're doing. I’m making it up as I go and I’ve accepted it’ll always be this way.

The difference between people who succeed and people who don’t is a willingness to figure it out.

You don’t need to know the ending before starting.

I started writing online in 2009.

Some of what I wrote sucked. K, fine. Most of it sucked. Some of what I still write sucks. But, less.

Did you know that I’ve built and sold 32 different products and services online. A few strikeouts. Mostly bloop singles. Two home runs.

I didn’t have publishing figured out before self-publishing my first book in 2011. I’ve self-published 10 books and traditionally published 2. And I feel that I’m, just now, beginning to get good at this.

That’s how it works.

Try something. Screw it up. Learn. Try again. Screw it up slightly less. And maybe, many years and projects down the line, you’ll begin to get (kinda) good. It’s fun when you lean into it because then you stop pitting your hopes and dreams on a single project.

So, yeah—here’s where I admit that I don’t know what I’m doing.

Im just making it up as I go, trying to have fun, and learning along the way. Don’t you realize that you can do this too?
