If you see beauty in something, don’t wait for others to agree.
There’s often a shrinking that happens when we love something other people don’t quite get. Especially in the age of social media. You discover a place, a practice, a way of moving through the world and for a moment it’s entirely yours. Then, someone raises an eyebrow, and suddenly you’re doing the calculation: is this worth loving publicly?
The people I find most alive are never the ones with the most conventional taste. They’re the ones who are specific. Who love things fully and a little embarrassingly.
That specificity isn’t a quirk. It’s a form of courage.
You don’t need consensus to confirm what moves you. If something catches the light for you even if someone else might think it’s strange, that’s no mistake. That’s information about who you are.
