A woman from my gym tried to ruin my life

And it would have been ruined if I didn’t have concrete proof that I was innocent.

Last year, my coworker and his wife started going to my gym.

I became acquaintances with my coworker

We hung out outside of work occasionally

and I spoke to the wife in passing

My gym bros and I would always notice his wife checking out other dudes at the gym

And we could just tell that she was unhappy with the marriage

Because of their behavior around one another

And knew that they would one day get a divorce.

One day, my friend watched her approach and flirt with another dude at the gym

He took a picture of her flirting with the guy

Sent it to me

And I sent it to her husband

Then, all hell broke loose.

The husband started to accuse my friend of being some weirdo creep

And all we were trying to do was tell him that his wife was flirting with another dude

And no, she wasn’t just having a polite conversation —

She was flirting

The wife then accused ME of being a creep

Emailed the gym management

Claimed that I took pictures of her in the gym

And said that

She felt Unsafe and that she felt like she was being watched.

The next day, she sent me a text via her husband’s cellphone and claimed

That it’s not appropriate to take pictures of women in the gym,

That I was making her feel unsafe

And that I needed to leave her alone.

I told her I did nothing wrong

And that she needed to respect her husband.

She approached me in the gym the next day while I was training abs

Flipped me off in front of everyone

Stormed to the front desk and started screaming about how pissed off she was that I was still there

And said that she wanted me banned.

The manager was away on vacation for a week

But, in the mean time, everyone took her word

I was friends with most of the staff before her accusations

And they then started treating me coldly and stopped acknowledging me

It was clear that they all blindly took her side.

Luckily, the girl was so deranged, delusional, and neurotic

That she attached the picture my friend took of her in the email

And, in the picture, you could clearly see that it was MY FRIEND taking the picture via the reflection of the mirror

And that I was no where to be found

The manager asked why she was mad at me if I didn’t take the picture

And she started to espouse some nonsense about me telling her husband rumors and blah blah blah.

Management told me to act like she doesn’t exist

And told her to stop flipping me off.

She got off scott free

While my reputation was somewhat restored, but not fully

As some women who worked their continued to blindly take her side despite irrefutable proof.

When men say women can ruin your life with one word

They aren’t being sexist patriarchal pigs

They’re telling the truth

My life would have been ruined if I didn’t have irrefutable proof of my evidence

Just think about all of the men in similar or worse positions than mine

Who didn’t have concrete proof of their innocence.

Always vet women adequately.

All they have to do is tell one lie

For your life to be ruined

This is a serious problem that need to be addressed.
