In Jerry and the Goldfish, Tom takes the goldfish in its bowl to cook and eat. About half way through the episode, Jerry regains control of the goldfish by catching it in a cup of water. He runs to return it to its bowl. His plan is ultimately foiled as Tom intercepts it in a pan. But my question is why would Jerry determine it was safe to simply return the goldfish to its bowl knowing that Tom could easily find it there again?
