A few years on from publication, Montague’s book is still one of the most thorough, compelling and engaging pieces of football culture writing I’ve ever read.

Through unprecedented access, he gets beneath the grubby headlines and allows these characters to present themselves directly, for better and worse.

There are exciting stories, ugly stories and wholesome depictions of fan groups who are sometimes misrepresented.
