Day 6 of our camper van escapades and we were over in Rickmansworth to see Matt Haig on his book tour - the tickets that triggered the plans for this entire trip. Evie was less than amused that we were leaving her at home. And yes, we took the van so we had no problem finding it in the carpark afterwards!
He was more than a little freaked out (as he told us) to be in a school hall with 200 eager fans starring at him, at close quarters, when his other events have been in theatres with lights leaving the audience in darkness.
He chatted away and for those of you that love the The Midnight Library (which must be a few as it's sold 12+ million copies) there's a movie version coming. Filming is due to start next January.
Someone in the audience made a great comment that the film version of a book is like stuffing a decorated Christmas tree through a letter box so by the time it gets to the other side all the baubles and half the branches are missing! Matt laughed and said he'd be happy if the movie was just slightly worse than the book so that people remembered it was a book before it was a movie… 😉
