Can you have more than one special interest at a time?

I'm probably in a small minority here, but for me it's a no.

I have other things I'm interested in, enjoy doing, and feel passionate about, but my monotropic attention is focused deeply on only one interest at a time. Others hardly get a look-in even if they're bubbling away in the background.

I think this has changed since having children and simply no longer having the capacity or time for multiple special interests. Even one is hard to engage with on the level I'd like, despite it being my job!

How do you experience it?
