Politics Politics Politics surpassed the number of subscribers I had on Patreon early this month. We’d been a few dozen short after the election but the last month has seen an increase.
But that is also very notable! In the Off Off Year last cycle (2021) we did not gain subscribers on Patreon. We slowly deflated, which I wrote off as part of the bizarre media cycle that comes with politics.
Substack is incredibly aggressive when it comes to growth. I’m very happy to be on a platform that cares about that.

And yet Steve Bannon and others want to change the Constitution to allow Trump to run again in 2028 (doubtless with Trump's assent), when he'll be 82. The thought is, since Trump's terms were not consecutive, the Amendment is unclear in this situation. I don't like the president to be term limited (would Russia have advanced so quickly if Putin had only 8 years to turn it around?), but reelecting an 82-year-old man brings to mind images of the gerontocracy that brought down the USSR.
