My first reaction is that I don’t love this for The Onion. Do we need Infowars in our society? By giving something attention, you sustain it. For example, we just went through 3 election cycles where we saw how obsessing over Trump only energized him (encompassing opponents, supporters and the media’s realization that Trump was profitable for them).

My concern is that The Onion is overestimating people’s attention span for parody — and that they’ll end up re-energizing Infowars fans/ideological opponents of The Onion’s management more than they’ll, I don’t know, create good karma from funny jokes.
