What do I miss the most after leaving a conventional lifestyle to travel full-time in a van?
A daily creative routine and the space to do it.
When I see the amazing artwork people are creating here on Substack, I long for a small studio where I can walk in every day and unleash my creativity. I want time to draw, paint, airbrush, or play guitar, in a place that represents me and my interests.
Don’t get me wrong.
I do carry some art supplies and inspiration in the van, but I never really use them, and I tend to make excuses about the lighting, mood, or exhaustion.
Maybe I’m just full of shit, telling myself lies and procrastinating because I don’t really want to create what’s in my mind anymore, or I’m just lazy.
But when people ask me what I miss, I think of an old garage blaring classic rock, while I smoke a joint and sling paint with an airbrush, just like I did in the old days before doomscrolling and computer-generated work.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
