I signed onto Notes when it first launched, but have held on at Twitter, in “last soldier in a doomed army” mode, in the meantime. But the trend there is clear.
So this is another try, to develop muscle-memory in Notes.
For substance: in the wake of the Trump/CNN Town Hall debacle, which I wrote about below, fallows.substack.com/p/…, the extra-discouraging followup is this sequence:
Virtually no one outside CNN has defended the spectacle. (Except for some of the political section at the NYT.)
Virtually no one at CNN has spoken up to criticize it. And a few, a la Anderson Cooper, have given amazingly weak rationalizations.
The main exception to point (2), Oliver Darcy of CNN’s Reliable Sources newsletter, has been brave and forthright in calling it out. And he is the one Chris Licht called in for a stern talking-to. twitter.com/DylanByers/…
I will be following Darcy’s posts and newsletters — and what happens to him at Licht’s CNN.
