In Journey to the West, the Monkey King (Sun Wukong) makes a bet with the Buddha that he can jump to the edge of the universe. He leaps 108,000 li and finds five pillars at the end of the world. To mark his territory, he writes a message on one and urinates at its base. Upon returning, the Buddha opens his hand to show Sun Wukong his own writing, and simian urine in his palm.
