Dr Manhattan takes Laurie on a tour of Mars atop a flying mirrored clock — like a mechanised steampunk hourglass — while making her debate him on the value of life; and she thinks she’s messed it up for all humanity, armed with nothing but her own life story, which doesn’t seem to demonstrate much value in the face of cold physics, but in the end we realise Jon has opened her mind into solving a mystery no one knew existed — by seeing all facets of time’s diamond simultaneously
