Hell yeah—especially in regard to my other note about drawing an archer correctly.
Proper form might look unnatural to the uninitiated—the palm turned out, the string squishing the face—but you just know it’s right. Even if you’ve never held a bow, it looks cool AF because it looks intentional. It’s the visual language of someone who knows exactly what they’re doing.
The same goes for the pool table. When you see the back leg straight, the front leg cocked, and the chin resting right on the cue with the stroke coming purely from the elbow—that’s when you know you’ve met a shark. It provides a visceral thrill that no amount of snappy dialogue can fake.
If a character is written as a expert, the production team owes it to the audience to get the physics right. Otherwise, the cool factor evaporates the moment they touch the equipment.
